We’ve been calling this piece of interactive art-in-progress the GiveOneGetOneBox. But knowing firsthand how search engines perv up any title that might possibly have something to do with naked women and intercourse, I’ve officially changed the name. Call it what you will.

For the number of hours I’ve ~~wasted~~ invested in this thing, you’d think I’d been building a full-size house.

What I wanted to make was a cabinet of curiosities and to pack it with interesting loot. I envisioned people walking, cycling, riding and driving by, brave enough to stop, open the doors, and take a looky inside. Theoretically, we live in the perfect village, with just the right amount of traffic, to make this happen. And, thinking happy thoughts, I believe that people will take something and leave something behind, something equally interesting, funny, or odd.

Best case scenario, the content becomes publicly curated by a wide range of creative and curious souls who willingly share a piece of their best selves with others.

Worst case scenario? Nobody cares.

I have done what I can do. The front doors are open, people. Round up your friends and drop by the little house anytime. (Closed during torrential downpours and tornadoes).

What a neat idea!

If you’re not into geocaching already you should check it out, you’d really enjoy it. It’s definitely a lot of fun. This project of yours would make for a great cache. 🙂

hey Andrea,

What a great idea. You should set it up as a geo cache and you’ll be guaranteed some traffic and they log their findings too, so you get to know who’s been there. I call it electronic treasuring hunting and the guy’s excuse to buy a GPS unit.

Someone found us within 12 hours of me entering it into http://www.geocaching.com – it’s by the covered bridge on the old farm. And still open to the public.
